About Philip R. Amorosi
I am a graphic designer, art director, and creative director with over 40 years of experience in Arizona. I have been a resident of Tempe, AZ, since 1975.
In addition to my creativity and design skills, I'm a highly proficient photographer, editor, and writer for print, web, and social media. I have learned the managerial skills needed to collaborate and guide others to achieve exceptional results by leading committees and organizations.
Education and Professional Background
- I graduated with honors from Arizona State University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, majoring in Graphic Design.
- In the ‘80s, I worked for small and medium-sized advertising agencies in Phoenix.
- In 1989, I started my own studio.
- My clients have included Sears™, Fender® Musical Instruments, Kellogg’s®, Armor-Dial, Xpedx Paper®, and Shamrock Foods®, to name a few.
- I have been a marketing consultant, photographer, illustrator, writer, editor, print broker, and art and creative director. I have a team of associates who help me with print, web, video, and audio.
- From 2004 to 2013, I worked as the senior graphic designer at The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ).
- From 2014 to 2024 I was contracted for design work with Scottsdale Community College.
Community Service
- Co-Chair of CVAC, Citizens for a Vibrant Apache Corridor
- Former Commissioner for the City of Tempe’s Development Review Commission for 6 Years
- Chairman of the Hudson Manor Neighborhood Association for 25 Years
- Former President of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill in the East Valley for 2 Years
- Former Chairman of the Apache Boulevard Redevelopment Committee (APAC) in Tempe for 4 Years
- Former Member of Maricopa County Slumlord Task Force for 1.5 Years
- Former Member of the Urban Design Task Force for Light Rail for 3 Years
- Former Board Member of Newtown, CDC for Affordable Housing for 6 Years
- Received Tempe’s Neighbor of the Year Award in 2000
- The Arizona Republic Newspaper recognized my community work in 2013, naming me as One of Tempe’s Top Ten People Who Made a Difference
